Physical Activity Programs

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention note that regular physical activity is one of the most important things we can do for our health. Physical activity has been demonstrated to help with weight management, reducing risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers; it can strengthen your bones and muscles, improve your mood and your ability to prevent falls and your chances of living longer. If you’re not sure about increasing your physical activity because you might get hurt it is good to know that moderate intensity aerobic activity is generally safe for most people. If you’re concerned about being more active please speak with your healthcare provider. If you’re not sure how to get started consider one of the evidence-based physical activity programs promoted by QTAC-NY.
